What You Need to Know About Autistic Special Interests ft. Autistic SLP Sam Rowntree

We’ve all had autistic clients/students that are highly interested in a single subject (or even an object or type of object). From a neurotypical perspective, these special interests might be hard to understand, and they may even seem to get in the way of therapy. But once you understand them, they actually present a unique opportunity for you as a therapist.

Autistic SLP, Sam Rowntree, is joining us to give you insight into special interests from an autistic perspective, as well as to teach you how to use these interests to increase engagement with autistic kids and build a deeper relationship.
